Girl Scout Troop 4340, is a very active troop of girls 8th-11th grade sponsored by a United Methodist Church. The girls come from a variety of schools across our county.

Our weekly meetings and scheduled programs are designed to give the girls leadership experience, build self-confidence, make life-long friends, and discover talents through opportunities to work on earned recognition’s in a fun environment.

Our capable adult leadership has a wealth of experience in the various aspects of the scouting program and all have attended age-appropriate Girl Scout training.

BE PREPARED

Each girl is asked to come prepared to each meeting (or event, as appropriate) with the following: Age Level Handbook, Interest Project Patch Book, paper and pencil or pen. A tote bag or backpack designated for Girl Scouts helps keep supplies all together and easy to "grab."

RECOGNITIONS

The troop works on awards and Interest Project Patches at the troop level and by participating in Council events. Troop members are encouraged to work on additional awards and Interest Project Patches on their own or in small groups. To receive credit for their work, each girl is asked to record her activities in her a notebook and have the entry signed by an adult. She then turns in her notebook to have her work recorded by a troop leader. She needs to use the following format:

Date, IPP and requirement, a description of completed work and adult signature.

GIRL PLANNING

Each year we organize our activities around the suggestions and ideas of the girls. We hold an annual planning meeting to brainstorm, then work to meet all of the goals that the girls set for themselves.

GIRL LEADERSHIP

The troop holds nominations, makes speeches and votes to elect girl leadership three to four times a year. Positions are designed so that every troop member has the opportunity to learn about leadership and responsibility.
